Wood family diaries, 1846; 1857-1858.

Consists of two diaries. Earlier is titled, "Diary of a voyage in the brig 'Henry' from Newburyport to the Columbia River by way of the Hawaiian Island [sic]" (1846). Later is titled, "Journal of a voyage via Cape Horn from Honolulu to New Bedford" (1857-1858). Authorship of first diary is unknown. Second is by a "Mrs. Wood."

Writer of first Wood family diary gives good account of shipboard life, a stop at St. Catherine's, runaway sailors and views of Falkland Islands (1846). Second diary describes a difficult return voyage that includes severe storms and two consequent transfers of ship between Honolulu and Massachusetts (1857-1858).
